Course Overview

Are all your members of staff involved in UCITS funds aware of the key changes and their implications following the implementation of UCITS V?

The directive setting out the UCITS V changes was published in the Official Journal of the EU on the 18th August 2014. The full implementation should now be in place, as the deadline was the 18th March 2016.  The aim of UCITS V is to improve investor confidence levels. It aims to achieve this by strengthening and enhancing the rules surrounding the responsibilities of depositaries and introducing remuneration policy requirements for UCITS fund managers.

UCITS V also aims to ensure that the regulators have a set of powers available to investigate infringements of national laws transposing the UCITS Directives and to sanction any breaches. All members of staff involved in UCITS funds should be aware of these powers and the potential impact they can have.

The regulator is running a consultation on the UCITS V level 2 regulations, until the 19th July 2016. This regulation will then take affect from the 13th October 2016.

This 2 day event will provide practical refresher exercises and group discussions around topics such as underlying assets, borrowing, diversification and investment into other collective funds. Making sure that all who attend are fully aware of their responsibilities surrounding the changes, and are confident of how these apply to them.
