So you want to progress your career in the securities and investment industry. Choosing the right qualification is crucial in demonstrating the high level of competence with which you operate, for both clients and employers. Having taken the time to research all your options you have decided to pursue the Chartered Wealth Manager (CWM) qualification provided by the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI).
Firstly this is a great choice; it is still viewed by many as the gold standard within the industry.
However being a Level 7 postgraduate qualification, consisting of three papers each requiring an estimated 200 hours of study time means that candidates are required to demonstrate a real commitment to their study. Especially when taking into account most candidates will be working full time whilst studying. Add in the fact that exams can only be taken in June and December each year and it becomes clear that undertaking this qualification is an 18 month marathon, not a sprint.
You know what to expect and are fully prepared for what is involved in undertaking this qualification. The next important step is to ensure you find study support that will enable you to achieve your potential and successfully complete the qualification. We suggest finding a provider that is willing to match your level of commitment to ensure your best chance of success. Failing to pass is not only frustrating for candidates but can also increase the timeframe of the qualification by a further 6 months.
The CISI provides a list of approved training partners that deliver study support for a range of their qualifications. This list can be found on their website; within these providers you will find a select number of Premier Approved Training Partners, including FSTP.
Why should I look for Premier Approved Training Partner such as FSTP?
Should you choose to study with a Premier ATP you will be working with a provider that is able to demonstrate that they go beyond the standard accredited training partner benchmark, and are consistently providing an excellent service to candidates and those funding candidates. The criteria are extensive and require firms to be able to provide quantative evidence such as above national average qualification pass rates. FSTP have achieved this consistently over the last few years. Don’t just take our word for it though. See what the CISI had to say…
“We congratulate FSTP LLP for achieving this important distinction (Premier Accredited Partner), satisfying our strict requirements for training and support and having gone the extra mile to exceed their candidates’ expectations.”
Lydia Romero, CISI Global Director of Learning
What do you want from your provider?
- To be treated as an individual and provided the attention you need, to help you overcome any specific problems.
- Small class sizes; allowing you to interact with your tutor and other candidates, not simply making up numbers in a lecture.
- A proven track record of delivering success for candidates.
- Tutors that have taken the exam themselves, and have industry experience allowing for a wider context to the syllabus.
- Being able to take a mock exam which is marked and returned in advance of your revision session. This is great when planning final areas of focus.
- A clear and simple way of recording and monitoring your study hours. Helping to prevent our candidates from any last minute realisation that you haven’t spent enough time studying.
Our candidates have achieved a higher pass rate percentage than the national average across all three papers over the last number of years. We have been consistently working with our candidates to improve their experience over this time and have built a strong reputation for outstanding service and success. Don’t take our word for it though; see what some of our previous candidates have to say.
“These qualifications are time consuming but it is worth it. My advice would be to choose a training provider that works best for you. Ian Richardson at FSTP was outstanding in providing the teaching and support that was required to achieve the CWM Qualification. As a proactive learner the small groups and the interactive nature of Ian’s FSTP courses were a huge benefit to me. I would also advise starting the exams as soon as you can and to keep the momentum going between each exam.”
Overall Winner of the Chartered Wealth Manager Award 2016, (Quilter Cheviot)
“FSTP unsurprisingly continues to attract the biggest and best firms in the City to use their expertise and skills… All their tutors are always able to reply to any questions I had either via email or phone which was a rather comfortable thought when in the midst of revising.”
